As autumn lets things fall away, she protects sacred memories and preserves the warmth of what we hold dear. The small orbs of light she tends hold treasured moments - love, connection, and the pieces of our lives we choose to carry into the next season.

Her story is a reminder that we can welcome change while honoring what remains precious.

Inspired by marigolds, whose golden blooms can continue into autumn, this original graphite drawing brings a magical Black woman to life through a crown of petals, delicate wings, and flowing botanical forms.

Created across days six and seven of my 30-day Magical Black Women art challenge, she begins my exploration of seasonal flower fairies - a world inspired by the representation I longed to see in fantasy growing up.
